In recognition of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of research ethics, effective 1 January 2025, the Princeton Journal of Pre-Collegiate Research will only consider for publication research involving human participants that has received prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or an equivalent ethics committee, unless the study is exempt under applicable regulations. Where required, ethical approval must be obtained before the commencement of data collection or participant recruitment. Authors must provide details of the approving body, approval number (if applicable), and confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants where required. Studies that do not require IRB approval, such as literature reviews, meta-analyses, or analyses of publicly available, de-identified data, should include a statement explaining why ethical approval was not necessary. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in rejection of the manuscript.
