Abstract
This paper examined government control and performance in the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) from 2012-2019. The study investigated how poor funding and political patronage, which resulted in recruitment of unqualified staff, limited ASEPA's performance in service delivery. Using descriptive survey methods and ANOVA analysis, the research found that political interference in staff appointments and inadequate financial support compromised organizational effectiveness. The study recommends reducing political interference, ensuring proper financial support, and establishing feedback mechanisms for public grievances to improve service delivery in public sector agencies.
