Abstract

This research investigates the purification of biogas using Ca(OH)2 limestone sediment to reduce CO2 levels and improve combustion engine performance. Biogas was purified at three flow rate variations (5, 10, and 15 l/min), and engine performance was tested at speeds of 1500, 2500, 3500, and 4500 rpm. Results showed that purification variation 2 achieved the most economical fuel consumption at 0.235 kg/hour, with a 20.7% increase in effective power and a 32.3% reduction in specific fuel consumption (SFCE) compared to unrefined biogas.
