Abstract

In this era of digital advancement, the world still lacks a comprehensive subjective e-examination system capable of evaluating text-based answers automatically. This survey examines recent research on natural language processing and text mining approaches for automating subjective answer evaluation, identifies their limitations, and explains why a foolproof system remains elusive for deployment in educational institutions.
