Abstract

This research investigates selective absorbent coatings for solar thermal collectors, comparing non-glossy black paint with chromium trioxide-treated coatings. Experimental results demonstrate that chromium oxide-coated plates achieve significantly higher efficiency (up to 99.36%) compared to untreated black surfaces (96.4%), with superior heat absorption and lower thermal emissions. Testing over two periods revealed weather exposure impacts efficiency degradation in both coating types, though treated surfaces maintain better performance.
