Abstract

This study examines the role of the Indonesian Notary Association (INI) in supervising notaries who violate the notary code of ethics and the legal consequences for notaries engaged in self-promotion through electronic media. Using normative juridical research, the study found that notaries proven to commit violations in self-promotion are subject to ethical sanctions imposed by the Honorary Council, which include admonitions, warnings, temporary dismissal, or honorific/disrespectful dismissal of association membership. The scope of ethical codes is organizational rather than legal, so violations do not incur legal sanctions under the Law on the Position of Notary Public unless the UUJN itself is breached.
