Abstract

This study evaluates the traffic conditions at Kula Dher intersection located on the Mardan-Charsadda/Ghani Khan Road. Field traffic data was collected and analyzed with 20-year projections to determine optimal design solutions. The intersection currently fails to provide acceptable service levels, particularly during peak hours, causing significant delays and congestion. Three improvement scenarios were analyzed: do-nothing, roundabout conversion, and new bridge crossing. Results indicate that a new bridge crossing (flyover) provides the best solution, achieving acceptable level of service and capacity within the 2039 horizon year. The study demonstrates a comprehensive methodology for evaluating intersection improvements through traffic assessment data.
