Comparison of Neonatal Deliveries in Hospital Versus Domestic Deliveries in Lahore City

This comparative study evaluated neonatal delivery outcomes and safety between hospital and domestic midwifery settings in Lahore, Pakistan. A sample of 100 pregnant women from government hospitals and midwifery homes was surveyed using dichotomous questionnaires. Results revealed that 85% of females lacked knowledge about neonatal care, 75% were unaware of neonatal complications, and 85% rejected midwifery deliveries in favor of hospital births. The study found widespread concerns about morbidity rates in midwifery deliveries, with 80% of respondents believing complications were more common outside hospital settings. Ethical approval was obtained, and data were analyzed using SPSS. Findings suggest a critical need for training programs to enhance midwifery knowledge regarding neonatal care, infection prevention, and complication management in the Lahore community.
