Abstract
This study assesses land use types in Kandy Municipal Council area based on human perspectives to create sustainable city landscapes. Data were gathered through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with fifty participants including city dwellers and local commuters. Results reveal that human perspectives are oriented toward balanced landscapes consisting of both nature and built environments, with preferences for recreational spaces like urban parks while maintaining undisturbed built environments. This assessment will benefit urban planners in implementing policies toward creating sustainable eco-friendly city landscapes.
