Abstract

Developing computer models combines components of scientific software with varying complexity levels. Low-level libraries provide better performance but slow development; high-level environments like Python simplify modeling but may suffer performance issues. This work presents software wrappers making classical low-level numerical continuation methods available in Python. We implement Newton's method for systems of equations and continuation methods for parameter-dependent nonlinear problems, applying these to the Bratu boundary value problem and a chemical reaction system. The resulting Python environment effectively balances development speed with acceptable numerical performance.
