Risk-Taking Mindset and Organizational Sustainability of Small and Medium Enterprises in Bayelsa State, Nigeria

Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between risk-taking mindset and organizational sustainability of small and medium enterprises in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Using a cross-sectional survey design with 300 respondents from registered SMEs, the study employed Spearman Rank Order Correlation analysis. Results revealed significant positive relationships: risk-taking mindset correlated strongly with social sustainability (r = 0.685, p < 0.05) and environmental sustainability (r = 0.718, p < 0.05). The study concludes that entrepreneurial risk-taking mindset is essential for sustained business performance and recommends implementing effective sustainable risk management frameworks to help entrepreneurs identify emerging operational and environmental concerns.
