Abstract

This research examines the integration of bioclimatic design principles into mixed-use urban development, specifically for urban residents of Lekki, Lagos. The study investigates how bioclimatic concepts—encompassing ecological and economic considerations—can be applied to create sustainable, energy-efficient buildings that provide comfortable living and working environments without adverse environmental impacts. Key bioclimatic strategies including building orientation, form optimization, and shading devices are analyzed through case studies demonstrating significant energy consumption reductions. The findings underscore the importance of designing vertical mixed-use developments as environmentally responsive structures that address urban environmental management challenges in Nigeria.
