Abstract
This case study addresses the progression of a family business operation involved in diversified business activities in the western province of Sri Lanka. The study examined the entrepreneurial process and identified activities conducted by family business operators to expand their operations. The business diversified into production, retail, transport, and food and catering sectors. Traders, friends, bankers, experts, and societies played major roles in the social network. Managerial capabilities, time management, and market orientation of family members were significant to business success.
